Üsküdar Üniversitesi at the 12th G20 / N20 (Neuroscience) Summit in Johannesburg!

Üsküdar Üniversitesi participated in the 12th G20 / N20 (Neuroscience) Annual Scientific Summit in Johannesburg, where groundbreaking studies in neuroscience, mental health, and neurotechnology were discussed on a global scale. 

Prof. Dr. Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar Üniversitesi, highlighted the importance of big data-oriented artificial intelligence applications in healthcare and stated that one of AI's greatest contributions is “digital therapeutics.” He said, “Applications such as memory enhancement and attention training with personalized digital therapeutics will become widespread in the coming years. This will be a significant contribution of neuroscience to neuropsychiatry.” 
 

Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel was deemed worthy of the “2025 Golden Axon Leadership” award given by the Brain Mapping Society.

 Prof. Dr. Ergüzel became the second scientist from Turkey to receive this award.
 

Researchers from Üsküdar Üniversitesi and NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi participated in the “22nd Neuro-Technology Congress” held in Los Angeles between February 27 - March 2, 2025, organized by the Brain Mapping and Therapeutics Society (SBMT), with which they partnered in the global Neuro-Technology Consortium in psychiatry.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “Artificial intelligence and neurotechnology are widely used in the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases, and results regarding the effectiveness of these treatments are increasing in the literature. The effectiveness and prevalence of Digital Therapeutics (DTx), a new generation treatment method, are increasing to manage patients' health conditions and improve their treatment processes.”  

Prof. Dr. Nesrin Dilbaz recommended the combined use of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment strategies.

Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel shared his study in which they analyzed 50,000 facial images corresponding to 7 different emotional states (angry, sad, happy, scared, surprised, disgusted, neutral), stating, “In the study, emotional state analysis was performed from faces using a deep learning-based CNN algorithm."

Fırat Tarhan, a board member of NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi and Üsküdar Üniversitesi, emphasized that over 9 million digital test data are stored in a central system to create personalized treatment plans and improve patient outcomes.

Üsküdar University, in collaboration with the US-based Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), represented Turkey at the G20 Neuroscience20 (N20) Summit held this year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 16-17, 2024.

Üsküdar University Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, stated, “With the BraiNP/NP Model developed by analyzing neuroimaging data collected at NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi for 26 years, artificial intelligence algorithms are effectively used in the preliminary diagnosis of various psychiatric diseases.”

Üsküdar University, in a significant step for psychiatry, has partnered with the globally recognized Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) in the field of brain mapping and treatment, establishing a global Neuro-Technology Consortium. The '22nd Neuro-Technology Congress,' to be held in Los Angeles from February 27 to March 2, 2025, aims to bring a new dimension to neurotechnology, pharmacology, biotechnological, and medical device improvements in psychiatry.
 

Üsküdar University, which has drawn attention with its academic work and artificial intelligence applications in Health Sciences since its establishment in 2011, has been offering a course titled “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Innovation in Healthcare" to its Faculty of Medicine students for a year… Thus, Faculty of Medicine students can observe modeling approaches used especially in big data analysis through project-based applications.
